Our Commemorative Project – The Tradition Continues

Wesley Girls’ High School, Cape Coast has a rich tradition of Old Girls (be they fossils, ancient, modern, contemporary or millennials!) supporting their beloved alma mater by undertaking much needed infrastructure projects to mark the various milestones (20th,  30th, 40th, 50th and 60th anniversaries) of the respective year groups. Twenty (20) years after leaving school, each year group has the privilege of hosting the speech and prize-giving day and undertaking a project to mark the occasion.

It was our (WGHS Class of 1996) turn to host the recent 180th Anniversary Speech & Prize Giving Day of the School and we commemorated the occasion, which also marked our 20th anniversary since leaving high school, with the refurbishment of the Finch Library. We were supported by the 2006, 1986, 1976, 1966 and 1956 year groups who also undertook various projects to mark their 10th, 30th, 40th, 50th and 60th anniversaries respectively.

Projects are unveiled and commissioned on the Friday before the Speech Day, right after the Tree Watering Ceremony.
